While Owen Jones bemoans the loss of 22 Labour Council seats since
Keir Starmer took the helm in July, the Reform Party once again secure a victory in the council by-elections.

In Kent, Kieran Mishchuk won the seat on the Swale Borough Council, stealing the seat from Labour and beating them by 272 votes to 200.

It is just another sign of Reform’s slow but steady ascension across the British Isles. Even more than this, it is a sign of just how wildly unpopular Keir Starmer has become to the ordinary British person.

It’s not exclusive to the right-wing or centre either.

“The prime minister himself appears to prefer jetting around the world, playing the role of would-be statesman,” writes Owen Jones scathingly in his article for The Guardian.

The criticisms and condemnation from all sides of the political spectrum keep flooding in. No wonder Nigel Farage is happy. It’s not just the traditionally-political people either.

A recent conversation I had with a taxi driver originally from Scotland resulted in an, albeit brief, conversation about politics. This otherwise cheery soul’s face turned sour when I asked him which political party he supported.

“Certainly not Labour,” he grunted.

“How about Reform?” I asked.

He shook his head.

“Don’t like them either. Racists.”
